Every guide on Re — VA Mesothelioma & Asbestos Benefits Guide is published under a named byline with a reviewed and updated date. This page introduces the people who write them and explains, plainly, what they are and are not.
What Our Writers Are
Our contributors are independent benefits writers and researchers. They work from official primary sources — VA.gov, the regulations in Title 38, and federal health agencies — and write to the standards set out in our Editorial Policy.
They are not attorneys, and they are not physicians or other medical professionals. We say that clearly because this subject is full of sites implying credentials nobody has. Our writers explain how programs generally work; they do not give advice on individual cases. That is what VA-accredited attorneys, accredited claims agents, Veterans Service Officers and treating clinicians are for, and every guide says so.
Eleanor Whitfield
Eleanor writes about disability compensation and about the programs available to families and survivors. Her guides tend to focus on the questions people ask once a diagnosis is confirmed: what a rating actually means, why a finding of zero percent can still matter, and what happens to a household’s entitlements over time. She has a particular interest in making rating criteria intelligible to readers who have never encountered them before.
Marcus Holloway
Marcus covers the claims process — evidence, service records, exposure history and the documents that decide a file. Much of his writing deals with the hardest part of an asbestos claim: establishing that exposure happened, decades ago, in work that nobody documented at the time. He writes about military occupational specialties, unit and ship records, and how lay statements are put together.
Sarah Bennett
Sarah writes about VA healthcare, treatment coverage, and the practical and financial side of managing a serious illness at home. Her guides are aimed as much at spouses and adult children as at veterans themselves, since they are often the ones assembling records and making arrangements. She focuses on what a household actually has to do, in what order.
How Articles Are Reviewed
Before publication, each guide is checked against official sources, and links are provided so readers can verify anything for themselves. Rates and thresholds are stated with the year they apply to and linked to the official VA tables rather than quoted as though they were permanent. Articles are re-reviewed periodically, particularly after annual rate changes, and the reviewed date on the article reflects the last check.
Corrections and Feedback
If you find an error — including one of fact, emphasis, or tone — please write to support@re.teerresulttoday.live with the page address and, if possible, the source that shows the correct position. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and material changes are noted on the article. Feedback from veterans and families who have been through the process themselves is genuinely useful to us, and we read all of it.
